1. Who we are

Map to Clean Seychelles ("we", "us") operates the Map to Clean Seychelles platform, a circular-economy marketplace connecting households, local businesses, collection sites and drivers in Seychelles. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

We handle personal information in line with the Data Protection Act, 2003 of Seychelles and any law that amends or replaces it.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Platform, we collect:

  • Account details: name, username, email address, phone number, role and password (stored only as a secure hash).
  • Addresses and locations: delivery and pickup addresses, and map coordinates you choose so drivers and sellers can find you.
  • Orders and pickups: what you buy or sell, order and pickup history, reviews and messages connected to them.
  • Payment information: payment status, amounts and references from our card payment gateway. Card numbers are entered on the gateway's secure page and are not seen or stored by us.
  • Verification (KYC) data for business users: identity documents, business registration details and related information needed to verify local businesses, collection sites and drivers.
  • Payout details for sellers and drivers: the bank or other payout method you register.
  • Messages you send us, for example through the contact form, and newsletter preferences.
  • Technical data: device and browser information, IP address and logs needed to keep the Platform secure and working.

3. How we use it

  • To run your account and provide the services you ask for — processing orders, arranging pickups, paying sellers and drivers.
  • To verify business users and prevent fraud, abuse and unsafe activity.
  • To send service messages such as order confirmations, verification decisions and password resets.
  • To answer your questions and resolve problems.
  • To send the newsletter, only if you have subscribed and confirmed your address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.
  • To measure the Platform's environmental impact and improve our services, using aggregated information where possible.
  • To meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.

4. Who we share it with

We share only what is needed for each purpose:

  • Other users, where needed to complete a transaction — for example, a seller sees the buyer's name and delivery address for an order, and a driver sees the pickup address and contact details for a job they accept.
  • Our payment gateway and acquiring bank, to process card payments and refunds.
  • Service providers who host the Platform, send our emails or store files for us, under agreements that require them to protect your information.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.

We do not sell your personal information. KYC documents are only accessible to authorised staff who review verification.

5. How long we keep it

  • Account information: while your account is open, and for a limited period after you close it so we can deal with any outstanding issues.
  • Orders, payments and payout records: for as long as Seychelles tax and accounting law requires (typically several years).
  • KYC documents: while you hold a business account and for a limited period afterwards, as needed to show we verified users properly.
  • Contact messages: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe; we keep a record of the unsubscribe so we don't email you again.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

6. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls for staff and audit logs of administrative actions. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private and tell us straight away if you suspect your account has been misused.

7. Your rights

Subject to the law, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • stop using your information for marketing.

You can update much of your information yourself in your account, and from your profile you can download a copy of your data or delete your account. Deleting it removes your name, contact details, addresses and listings straight away; past orders and payments stay on file without them. For other requests, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you may also complain to the relevant data protection authority in Seychelles.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar storage that are needed to keep you signed in, remember your cart and keep the Platform secure. We do not use advertising cookies.

To see which pages are useful, we count page views ourselves, without cookies and without third-party trackers. We record the page, the website that sent you (if any) and the type of device, but not your IP address. A code made from your connection changes every day, so we can count daily visitors but cannot follow you from one day to the next. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we don't count your visits at all. Page-view records are deleted after 13 months.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and we will tell you about significant changes by email or on the Platform.
