1. About these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Map to Clean Seychelles website, apps and services (the "Platform"). The Platform connects households, local businesses (artisans), collection sites, drivers and the public in a circular-economy marketplace for waste collection, recycled materials and upcycled products in Seychelles.
By creating an account, placing an order, scheduling a pickup or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Accounts and roles
To use most features you need an account. You must give accurate information, keep your password secure and tell us promptly if you think your account has been misused. You are responsible for activity on your account.
Accounts have a role that decides what you can do:
- Consumers can buy products from the marketplace and schedule waste pickups.
- Local businesses (artisans) can list and sell upcycled products and buy recycled materials.
- Collection sites (collectors) can list recycled materials for sale to local businesses.
- Drivers can accept and complete pickup jobs.
Business roles (local businesses, collection sites and drivers) must complete identity and business verification ("KYC") before using business features. We may refuse, suspend or close an account that gives false information, breaks these Terms or the law, or puts other users at risk.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to hold an account.
3. Marketplace purchases
Products on the marketplace are made and sold by independent local businesses, not by Map to Clean Seychelles. When you buy a product, your contract of sale is with the seller. We provide the Platform, take payment on the seller's behalf where you pay by card, and help resolve problems.
Sellers are responsible for describing their products accurately, setting prices, keeping stock up to date and fulfilling orders. Handmade and upcycled products can vary from photographs.
Prices are shown in Seychelles Rupees (SCR). An order is accepted when the seller confirms it. If a product turns out to be unavailable, the seller may cancel the order and any card payment taken will be refunded.
Your rights as a consumer under the laws of Seychelles are not affected by these Terms. If something is wrong with an order, contact the seller through your order page first, or contact us and we will try to help.
4. Payments
You can pay by card or, where offered, cash on delivery.
- Card payments are processed by our payment gateway (Mastercard Payment Gateway Services) through our acquiring bank. Card details are entered on the gateway's secure page; we never see or store your full card number.
- An order paid by card is only confirmed once the payment has been verified with the gateway. If a payment fails or is cancelled, you are not charged and the order is not placed.
- With cash on delivery you pay the seller or their delivery agent in cash when you receive the order. Please have the correct amount ready.
- If a paid order is cancelled, the refund is returned to the card you used. The time it takes to appear depends on your bank.
Local businesses pay a commission on marketplace sales, and material sales may carry a fee, at the rates shown in the business's dashboard or agreement. Payouts to sellers are made to the payout method they register, after deduction of any fees.
5. Waste pickups
Consumers can request a waste pickup for a chosen address and time slot. Pickups depend on driver availability and are not guaranteed until a driver accepts the job.
You must describe the waste honestly and only include accepted materials. Do not include hazardous, medical, chemical or illegal waste. Drivers may refuse waste that is unsafe or not as described.
You can cancel a pickup up to the cancellation window shown when you book. Please make sure the waste is ready and the driver can safely reach it at the agreed time.
Drivers are independent and must follow road, safety and waste-handling laws. They must treat customers and their property with care.
6. Listings, reviews and content
You are responsible for the content you post, including product listings, photos, reviews, comments and map updates. It must be accurate, lawful and yours to share, and must not be misleading, offensive or infringe anyone's rights.
You keep ownership of your content, but you allow us to host, display and promote it on the Platform and in our marketing about the Platform. We may moderate, edit for formatting, or remove content that breaks these Terms.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law or help anyone else to;
- trade counterfeit, stolen, dangerous or prohibited goods;
- arrange to take a sale off the Platform to avoid fees after meeting a buyer or seller through it;
- interfere with the Platform's security or operation, scrape it, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours;
- harass, threaten or defraud other users.
8. Our responsibility to you
We work to keep the Platform available and accurate, but we provide it "as is" and cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
We are not the seller of marketplace products, the buyer or seller of materials between businesses, or the employer of drivers. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the acts or omissions of other users, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the laws of Seychelles, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Changes and ending your account
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you by email or on the Platform. Continuing to use the Platform after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
You can close your account at any time by contacting us. Orders, payouts and records that are still open will be completed or kept as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Seychelles, and the courts of Seychelles have jurisdiction over any dispute. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem informally.
